So, our main family ride, our Dodge Magnum, is an accident machine. 5 times it's been hit since we purchased it. Usually when we're going to California. Well, today, I wasn't going to California, so I didn't actually get hit, but it's not for a lack of trying.
The most egregious example was the Honda Civic on 51 south today. I was tooling along to the doctor's office, Lotus in tow. I was in the carpool lane, and I was coming up on a newish Honda Civic in the lane immediately to my right. I was maybe 3 car lengths behind it when I see it start to swerve in it's lane. Did it try to change lanes into that truck to it's right? I didn't see. Anyway, the driver overcorrected, and then overcorrected again. Think a ship on high seas. Then, finally, the driver lost it completely, the back end swung around and it went straight across my lane into the concrete barrier. At a pretty good clip as well, considering the bounce back and the damage to the front end. It ended up in my lane, right in front of me. Fortunately, my reactions were slick enough that I was able to avoid it, plus there wasn't anyone around me (I tend to keep very close track of who's around me at any given moment, because of all the accidents in the past). Honestly, I felt like I was watching all of this in slow motion, and, Neo-like, casually moved over a lane to avoid the stricken car that the Matrix dropped in front of me. I don't think I even hit the brakes, though I am pretty sure I took my foot of the go-baby-go pedal. I even used my turn signal. I called 911 to report the accident (of course, all police are controlled by the Matrix, so they probably already knew), and was able to make my doctor's appointment anyway.
Take that, Matrix! You can't hit me when I'm not going to California!
